Serve Our Church

Just as Jesus served others throughout his life, we too are called to follow Jesus's example to serve others. Serving the church is one way to do this. There are many ways you can serve including helping on Sunday mornings or volunteering to serve on a committee.

We encourage you to review the opportunities below and discover how you can SERVE in a way that feels most comfortable for you at your stage of the journey.

Chore & Chortle

Purpose: Do you like to fix or repair things? This group enjoys a short social time and then completes general maintenance work on the church facilities and grounds. No skills required and work tools are typically supplied by the group members . The gathering typically meets for a couple hours and includes pastries, coffee, sharing of joys and concerns, a short prayer and then work. Email Tom Jenkins if you would like to SERVE our church in this way.

Meeting time: Tuesdays 8:45am in the church Narthex.

Leader: Email: Tom Jenkins

Community of Care

Can you give a person a visit, a call, or a ride somewhere?. If so, the community of care is just your group. This group is called upon as needed to provide various forms of help to members in need. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Minnows

Can you cook? This group of women and men offers to temporarily prepare salads or meals to members in need during life changing events. Events such as births, serious illness and funerals are examples of these life changing times. All that's needed is a caring heart and willingness to prepare a meal entree, side dish or dessert. Email Carole Berg if you would like to SERVE our church in this way.

Seekers

The seekers group meets every Wednesday at 11am at the church. This dedicated group of women join together for fellowship, and to send cards to those in need of comfort and celebration. Contact the church office at 425-255-5403.

Sunday Greeters

Do you have an infectious smile? Do you enjoy saying "Good morning!"? If so, being a greeter may be just your opportunity to brighten our visitors and members day as they enter our church on Sunday mornings. Contact our church office if you would like to Serve in this way.

Worship Service Accolytes

Acolytes are responsible for lighting our Sunday morning altar candles which symbolize Jesus's coming into our presence. This job requires just a couple minutes to complete before and then at the end of the service. If you're tall enough to reach the top of the candles with the Candle Lighter, then your qualified for the job. This work is currently done on a first come, first serve basis so there's lots of opportunity if you get there early. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Altar Guild

Can you make a bare room come to life and feel like home? This group meets during the week and is responsible for making our sanctuary feel like home with flowers, banners, colors and other dressings that visually support the lectionary season. They are also responsible for the refreshments and coffee before and after the service. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Audio/Video

Do you consider yourself technically savvy with good hearing? This group maintains, sets up and runs the sound and video systems for our Sunday morning service. This job requires its members show up 30 minutes before the service to get the systems ready, familiarize themselves with the worship slide content for the morning, and prepare for any special needs such as pre-recorded music, additional lapel or stand microphones, video presentations etc. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Choirs

Can you sing? Our choirs are a central part of our traditional worship services and perform all year except the summer months. We have a Women's Ensemble that meets Sunday mornings at 9am. We have a small but growing children's (elementary) choir and youth (middle school) choir that meet during the worship service. And of course we have an adult choir (high school and older) that meets Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Liturgist

Can you speak to a group? This individual leads the congregation through the Worship service order by introducing hymns, leading the congregation in reciting prayers, reading scripture, helping serve communion and other aspects of the service requested by the pastor. This task requires little preparation other than familiarizing yourself with the scripture by reading it ahead of time. This is also a great way to build your faith in the word by publically speaking it to others. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Organist/Pianist

Can you play a piano or organ? Music is a big part of our worship services and our organist would love to have some backup. If your fingers are still nimble and seasoned in the art of organ playing, then perhaps this would be an area you can serve. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Usher

Do you consider yourself friendly? This group welcomes congregants into the sanctuary on Sunday mornings, passes out the bulletins, sets up communion rails, sets out hearing aid head sets, collects the offering and cleans up the pews after the service. No skills are required except the ability to smile and say, "Good morning. How are you today". This service requires its members show up at least 15 minutes before worship begins and stay 15 minutes after the service to clean up the pews. This is a great way to associate a congregants name with their face before reading their name tag. Contact our church office if you would like to SERVE in this way.

Worship Service Bell Choir

Have you ever considered playing bells? We have a Bell Choir that is always looking for new members. They rehearse and perform occasionally during our Worship Service . Contact our Choir Director for more details.
